Zootly Cannabis Cup 2021
Judged in two streams — local genetics and international — which is a fairer question than one leaderboard for both.

Zootly Cannabis Cup, 2021 · 2021 · South Africa
The 2021 Zootly cup split its judging between locally bred genetics and international ones, and that split is a better idea than it might look.
An imported cultivar arrives with a decade of somebody else's selection work behind it. A South African cross may have three seasons. Judging them against each other tells you mostly about breeding budgets; judging them apart tells you who is growing well.
Garlic Cake, from Umthunzi Garden, took the local stream — the same garden that would take the East Coast Breeders Cup the following year.

What a placing here is worth
A cup result describes one batch, judged once, by the people who happened to be judging. It is a good reason to look at what a grower is doing now; it is not a promise about a jar in front of you today, which may be a different season, a different cut and a different cure.
If you want the fuller version of that argument, see Cannabis cups, and what a win actually means — and if you would rather learn to score a jar yourself, the five-minute method is the place to start.
